artdepotnr3 was formed in 2021 by Rebecca Tough and Thomas Simpson
At the heart of our work is the building of an arts community founded upon radically different values to those given to us by the establishment.
We believe in engagement, positive struggle and growth.
Art Depot welcomes and recognises practitioners from a wide range of disciplines and experience.
Rebecca Tough has over 20 years of experience in art education (post- compulsory), teaching FE and HE. In 2015 she co-founded artpocket in Norwich, a thriving independent art school. She has designed and delivered a number of programmes of study for all age ranges. Her creative practice focuses on print making, book forms and sculpture.
Alongside artdepotnr3 she is part of a performance collaboration called Witty Kitches.
Tom has focused his tutoring on contextual enrichment, personal visual language and the development of critical awareness.
This approach has been central to the growth of the Artdepot community, and continues to evolve.
Tom’s art practice is embedded in the enjoyment of the materials we use, the exploration of the psyche and using up bits that the builder left behind.
Eve's background is in 3D Design and Textiles. These skills have formed a strong foundation for her interest in Performance.
Since 2014 Eve has been creating costume and puppets, and performing with the Common Lot CIC.
In her own practice she creates Worlds in a Box: intimate pieces with an absurd flavour inviting the viewer to create their own narrative, with moveable pieces, drawing on performance and puppet theatre.
The creative Industry is huge and there are so many artists working in different ways to support others on their journey.
Collaboration with other creative professionals is important to ensure rich and varied art provision.
We welcome working with others to increase and support the network of freelance artists and facilitators.
We believe in the power of art and its ability to improve our self confidence and general sense of well-being.
We provide a range of workshops both in house, for external organisations and events.
We are happy to discuss any ideas that you may have whether it is for a works team building day, a family get together or a well being workshop.
Although the team covers most of the course content we do like to work with other professionals and welcome their input with our students to broaden experience and shift perspectives.
Throughout the year we invite guest Artists to come in and talk about their work, deliver a workshop and to provide tutorials for our students.
This extends our sharing of knowledge and introduces students to specialist areas of art and design.
We are the Witty Kitches, a multi-disciplinary creative duo working between the visual and performing arts.
We are interested in telling the stories of those that have been silenced or merely forgotten about, focusing on local female heroes and legends.
Recent projects have included working with out there arts uk in Great Yarmouth. We have created window displays with local families promoting the town and its heritage. We have also created work for a display about the Kitty Witches of GY which is where our name comes from.
